  • 1/2 medium onion -diced
  • 4-5 cloves garlic -diced
  • 1 – 14oz can diced tomatoes
  • 1 – 8oz can tomato sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Comfort food, indeed! It still evokes childhood memories without being overly decadent. Knowing that we all enjoyed fideo and that it could feed a large family made it simple for my mother to prepare a large pot of it. The sopa de fideo was typically made without using any meat.
