While we used whole snap peas, bok choy, and bunashimeji mushrooms, the real beauty of this dish—as with most stir-fry recipes—lies in its simplicity and versatility.

You can serve this with noodles if you’d like, but we served it with steamed rice.

What Cut of Beef to Use for Stir-fry?

Steer clear of pre-sliced beef stir-fries that you may find at your neighborhood grocery store. The pieces are typically cut too thick, and these cuts are frequently difficult.

For any beef stir-fry recipe, we recommend using flank steak, but you can also use beef chuck steak, just make sure it’s tender before cooking. Although you might want to save that for the grill, sirloin steak also works well!

Make sure to cut anything against the grain whenever possible. Your beef will be more tender if the slices are thinner; the tougher the cut, the thinner the slices should be.

In order to shorten the muscle fibers and help tenderize the meat, cut the steak against the grain. To ensure that the pieces cook quickly, you want the strips to be thin—about 1/4-inch thick. Plus, the bite size pieces make it easy to eat!.

  • Rice wine vinegar

  • Hoisin sauce
  • Cornstarch
