  • 8 lb. corned beef brisket
  • Paper towels

  • 8 small potatoes, quartered
  • 2 small onions, quartered
  • 4 large carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 medium rutabagas, peeled and quartered

  • Remove the brisket from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature on your kitchen counter for thirty minutes.
