How To Cook Beef Ribs In The Crock Pot

How to Make Crock Pot Beef Ribs

Place the ribs in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker. Pour the barbecue sauce over (reserve about 1/2 cup). Pour the coke over. Toss in the lemon and onion.

(As long as your spareribs will slip into this slow cooker, the ingredient count remains the same.)

Cook for 3–4 hours on high or 7–8 hours on low.

To ensure that the meat is exceptionally tender, I like to cook it for a longer amount of time. That would be low for eight hours or high for four hours, in my opinion.

Serve with reserved bbq sauce for dipping or topping.

This juicy tender beef is so flavorful it falls apart!

Enjoy! To keep the meal simple and tasty, I like to serve these with my perfectly roasted vegetables.

  • Keep leftovers in the refrigerator for up to five days in an airtight container. You can either reheat in the microwave or oven.
  • Additionally, leftovers can be frozen for up to three months in an airtight container. Thaw in the refrigerator for a full night before reheating according to the directions above.
  • After slow cooking, you can, if you’d like, caramelize your barbecue ribs in your oven under the broiler. This will ensure they’re nice and caramelized before serving, and it only takes a few minutes. However, this step isn’t necessary. If you’d like, you can also cook them for a few minutes on the grill.
  • For more spice, add a tablespoon of cayenne pepper.
  • If you want to reduce the amount of cleanup required for this recipe, use a slow cooker liner in your crockpot. They are available at the same grocery store as the plastic bags and aluminum foil.
  • If you prefer Dr. In place of Coca-Cola, you could definitely use a can of pepper.

You can use whichever beef ribs you like. You have the option of ordering boneless or bone-in short ribs.

As I previously mentioned, I adore pairing my beef ribs with roasted vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and Brussels sprouts. For a low-carb variation, though, you could also serve your crock pot ribs over mashed potato, garlic mashed potato, or mashed cauliflower, sprinkled with green onions.

As an alternative, have your ribs with a side of cornbread, coleslaw, and corn. Alternatively, try baked beans and biscuits! These are all very delicious choices!

BBQ Beef Ribs Rub

Here’s what you need for the Rub. You can substitute a lot of items, so don’t worry if you don’t have every one:

There are different cuts of beef ribs, but in Australia, the most popular cut is known as beef short ribs. It’s a large, meaty rectangle block that is divided into individual bones.

They try to get big, meaty ones because they shrink about 20-30%. It’s okay, though, if you can only obtain tiny ones—about 250g/8 oz!

RACK of beef ribs: occasionally, beef ribs are seen in a rack. They typically have less meat on them. They are also perfect in this recipe; directions are on the recipe card. But be careful—if the rib racks arrive vacuum-packed, they have already been brined and will taste overly salty. Instead, check the ingredients; if there is anything other than beef, it has been brined, meaning salt has been injected.

Other cuts of beef that work well here are beef cheeks and chuck (cut into baseball-sized chunks). For brisket, use the Barbecue Beef Brisket recipe.

Other meats: Try this recipe for chicken or this one for pork ribs.

  • Brown sugar – sub white
  • One teaspoon minced garlic (using a press) is equal to one teaspoon powdered garlic.
  • Onion powder – garlic powder
  • Mustard powder – dijon or standard mustard

If using mustard spread or fresh garlic, apply those wet ingredients first before applying the dry rub.
