Easy Beef Braciole Recipe

  • 1 – 1 1/2 pound flank steak
  • 1/2 Cup provolone grated (non-smoked!)
  • 1/2 Cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 glove garlic minced
  • 1/4 Cup parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbls Star Butter Flavored Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbls fresh basil chopped
  • 1/2 tsp oregano dried
  • Sauce:
  • 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 28 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 Cup dry white wine
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 3 Tbls butter unsalted
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 Cup fresh basil chopped
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a bowl, combine the provolone, panko, 1/2 tsp oregano, parmesan, 1 clove garlic, 2 tablespoons basil, and Star Butter Flavored Olive Oil.
  • After laying out the flank steak, evenly distribute the breadcrumb mixture over it. Shape the beef into a jelly roll by rolling it from the narrower end first. Secure with butchers twine.
  • Sear meat with two tablespoons of Star Butter Flavored Olive Oil in a hot skillet. Allow to brown evenly on all sides, then move to a baking dish.
  • The remaining garlic should be added to the hot oil and dripping pan right away. Then, add the wine, tomatoes, and other ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  • Spoon over 3 1/4 cups of the tomato sauce. Cover and let cook for 30 minutes in the oven. Pour the sauce over the meat after 30 minutes, cover, and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Remove the cover, pour the sauce over the meat one last time, and cook for a further half hour without a lid. Remove from oven and cut into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Serve over rice with sauce or with your favorite sides, but make sure not to serve any of the string!
