To start, cut open the package and give the corned beef a quick rinse to get rid of any gel. It can get pretty gummed up. You’re also rinsing away any excess salt. Corned beef is quite salty from the corning process.

Next, place the rinsed corned beef in your pressure cooker on a rack. Add diced bell peppers, onion, cloves of garlic, and your favorite seasoning on top.

Don’t just throw the cabbage in the pressure cooker with the corned beef and cook it if you’d rather cook it that way as well. It will get too mushy. This is a simple recipe for corned beef and cabbage prepared in a pressure cooker.

Strain Vegetables. After the vegetables are strained, place them in a bowl and cover it. Reserve the cooking liquid in the pot.

Add Cabbage to Pressure Cooker. Next, add the cabbage, cut into wedges, and, if desired, the potatoes and carrots.

Pressure Cook the Cabbage. Close the lid and lock it. Cook at high pressure for 3 minutes. When the pressure is finally released, serve them with your corned beef.

How to Make Corned Beef and Cabbage in ANY Brand of Electric Pressure Cooker

Any brand of electric pressure cooker, such as the Instant Pot, Ninja Foodi, or Power Pressure Cooker XL, can be used to prepare this recipe for corned beef and cabbage.

  • Start by rinsing your cut of beef in cold water. This removes any excess salt from curing.
  • Then, add the seasoning, garlic, and onion to your pressure cooker. Arrange the meat on the wire rack above the aromatics. (Note: although not required, the rack does make removing the meat a little bit easier.) ).
  • Then pour in a quart of beef broth. In your pot, the broth should reach at least halfway up the sides of the meat.
  • Now just close the lid and cook for ninety minutes on high pressure. You can turn the lever to perform a rapid release of pressure after a ten-minute natural release. Prepare yourself for a wonderful release of delicious-smelling steam when you remove the lid.
  • While cooking the potatoes, carrots, and cabbage, carefully move the meat to a resting area. You won’t have to wait long because the veggies in the pressure cooker only need to cook for 3 minutes.
